Aberlour Children’s Charity is pleased to announce that we received the Investors in Diversity accreditation in recognition our promotion of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The accreditation comes after a year-long assessment process that included two surveys and many discussions with staff members by IIP Assessor Fiona Trill. Aberlour met all the standards given by the Investors in Diversity organisation, which resulted in the award being recommended.
Our staff emphasised the positive impact of Aberlour’s dedication to creating an inclusive and innovative working environment that values its employees and fosters a sense of connection and respect among colleagues. During the assessment, they told us:
‘Aberlour is the best place I have ever worked in regard to feeling comfortable in speaking openly without judgment’.
‘I have found the company to be innovative, inclusive and breaks barriers between different levels, where everyone may have different responsibilities but the same respect’.
‘At interview I declared I had experienced mental health issues – I was worried I would be ‘marked down’ or not given an opportunity – instead, it was a positive experience, and I am supported in the workplace ‘
Aberlour Chief Executive, SallyAnn Kelly OBE also expressed her pride in the award saying:
“Investors in Diversity is a national equality standard and I’m proud Aberlour has received this accreditation. Having effective workplace approaches towards equality, diversity and inclusion is key to ensuring our teams feel valued and more able to support young people and families from many different backgrounds and life experiences. I look forward to us continuing to improve and evolve our support for equality, diversion, and inclusion in Aberlour”.
At Aberlour we understand the value of diversity in the workplace and acknowledge the benefits it brings, not only to our staff, but also the children and families we support. This award is a testament to our commitment to creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable, respected, and valued.
We know that there is still lots of work to be done and will use the report’s recommendations to improve further. Aberlour plans to keep staff members involved in discussions and actions to address the report’s recommendations.
