David joined Aberlour’s Board of Governors in October 2009, and sits on the Finance Committee.
Born in the West of Scotland and educated at Glasgow University, David has enjoyed a successful career in sales, marketing and senior management with a range of companies including Canon, Lloyds Bowmaker, Murray International Group and Schroders. He set up his own training & development business – MediaCorp – which he developed into an online learning company which he sold in 2004.
Now a Business and Life Skills Management consultant, David has held non executive director positions over the last few years with a number of not-for-profit organisations. He became Founding Chairman of the E-Learning Alliance in Scotland, President of Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Local Economic Forum, a Director of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, a member of the Entrepreneurial Exchange, regional board member of the Prince’s Trust and recently became chair of The Academy for shared learning across the third sector.
David has participated in a number of fundraising activities over the last 10 years for Aberlour in Peru, Chile, Argentina and Tanzania. He is a keen amateur artist and photographer and sees his role supporting the organisation as a volunteer as a way of giving back to help support vulnerable children and young people.
David was appointed Vice Chair in June 2014.
